I work as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Head of Unit to provide clinical, strategic and research leadership of the SA Health Statewide Eating Disorder Service (SEDS). My multidisciplinary expert team provides a rapid access assessment service for people living with eating disorders who are seeking experienced, professional, evidence based care to help them to recover. We coordinate a range of treatments from acute medical care, inpatient specialist programs, a day patient program and outpatient psychotherapy. We support professionals across SA by providing consultation, liaison and education to assist their are for people living with an eating disorder.

I provide clinical leadership of the Flinders Medical Centre Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service caring for patients in the general hospital. My areas of subspecialty include the Psychiatric care of patients with chronic physical illness, Renal and Liver Transplant psychiatry, Movement Disorder Psychiatry, Psychoplastics, Psychodermatology and Psychosomatic Medicine. My service provides specialist care in Chronic Pain, Somatoform Disorders and Perinatal Psychiatry.

I was the Director of the Flinders Neurostimulation Service for 13 years. During that time our team led South Australia with the introduction of modern, better tolerated neurostimulation treatments for psychiatric illness. My focus is now on neurostimulation for people living with movement disorders through my work in the Flinders and Adelaide Deep Brain Stimulation services. I am a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) neurostimulation special interest group (ENSIG). I am developing neurostimulation treatment options for people with eating disorders

I dedicate much of my private practice to creating and reviewing Eating Disorder Plans. I focus on helping people with eating disorders who experience complexity due to psychiatric and medical illness comorbidity and barriers to recovery.I use a biopsychosocial psychotherapeutic formulation approach to understand and formulate problems and develop solutions by collaboration the patient and their carers. I recognise each patient and their situation as unique and requiring an individually tailored approach. I also specialise in psychosomatic medicine and the psychiatric management of medical and surgical illness. I often consult with people living with disordered eating related to chronic illness.I provides assessment and care of LGBTIQ+ people, particularly when gender considerations interface with eating and body image issues.I have a small and limited capacity to provide ongoing therapy for patients. I use evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM). I also provide psychotherapy for comorbid disorders including anxiety, trauma, body image, mood, and personality disorders. I use psychodynamic psychotherapy for complex issues that are barriers to recovery.I can advise, plan, and provide a range of further treatments including psychopharmacology and neurostimulation for eating disorder care.When I cannot provide ongoing care, I will offer referral to a trusted, credentialled multidisciplinary eating disorder team from his network of associated medical doctors, psychologists and dietitians. I will provide support and liaison for clinicians needing my advice on how to care for their patients

I am a Senior Lecturer at Flinders University and contribute to the Graduate Entry medical Program with lectures, tutorials and student teaching in the Psychiatry course.

I am an accredited Clinical Supervisor with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). I train RANZCP Registrars in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and Advanced Training in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry. I lecture in the SA RANZCP Lecture program and teach trainees in the area of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and Eating Disorders. I am a member of the RANZCP Sections of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Neuropsychiatry.

I am a ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician. I was an elected Executive Committee Member at The Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) for 5 years and a Co-Convener of the ANZAED Annual Conference in Adelaide, August 2019.
