Review, recommend, and implement best practices for IT security, and enterprise disaster recovery planning and testing. This includes, but is not limited to network configuration, host server and SAN security, data backup and recovery procedures, penetration testing, firewall configuration and testing, virus protection, spam and data filtering, application and password security, management of IT projects, and to ensure the compliance of corporate IT standards and methodologies. Other responsibilities include working with the Director of Technology to guarantee the effectiveness of IT security and DR procedures. Working with the auditors and regulating authorities to keep IT security and DR procedures current as required. Work with the Director of Technology to update the Strategic Technology Plan.

Managed IT technical support staff. Directed IT operations including computer support operations, backup and recovery, disaster recovery testing/planning, and daily support for over 2000 devices in over 35 locations. Planned and implemented the installation of software, physical and virtual servers, SAN storage, desktop computers, computer security, network infrastructure, network security, and VOIP phone systems.

Managed the day to day operations of the corporate resources and technical staff. Researched new systems by gathering facts, analyzing data, and recommending the optimal approach, while taking into account cost, time, equipment, personnel, and the business needs of the corporation. Provided information and guidance to the users of computers throughout the corporation. Assisted users in their system cost justifications. Built and installed over 30 Novell servers, and over 400 workstations. Rebuilt the entire enterprise network while moving from Token Ring to Ethernet, and while implementing TCP/IP.

Designed and wrote business applications in dBase, Clipper, FoxPro, and C++ for both standalone and networked PC’s. Built and installed network backbone and Novell servers. Installed and maintained personal computers throughout the entire corporation. Tested and installed new software. Trainer for corporate software. Supported the leased line data communication network for the corporation.
