Office of Inspector General's (OIG) mission is to protect the integrity of Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) programs as well as the health and welfare of program beneficiaries. The Office of Evaluation and Inspections (OEI) conducts national evaluations of HHS programs from a broad, issue-based perspective. The evaluations incorporate practical recommendations and focus on preventing fraud, waste or abuse and encourage efficiency and effectiveness in HHS programs.

That includes directly addressing the barriers people face because of race, ethnicity, and immigration status. We also fight back against bad ideas as well as political attacks on effective policies and investments.• Monitored, analyzed and synthesized federal and state legislative and regulatory policy focusing on federal programs supporting low-income Americans, including Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and the Earned Income Tax Credit.• Authored over one dozen policy briefs and In Focus blog posts evaluating program data, proposed legislation and new policy initiatives. Independently conducted quantitative analysis of the U.S. Census Bureau Current Population Survey data on annual income, poverty and health insurance for CLASP’s policy fact sheets. • Participate in, and contribute ideas to, internal working groups to build organizational capacity around data analysis, racial equity, and communication strategies.
