Architected solutions for enterprise customer in the electric utilities sector. Specializing in the design and implementation of supportable networking solutions in the enterprise LAN/WAN, and datacenter environments to support $260M Automated Metering System (AMS) and Smartgrid project to deploy 3 Million smart meters to homes and businesses in the North Texas area and integrate Transmission Management System (TMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS) data feeds into an IP based network to eliminate dependence on a separate Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network. Responsibilities included: • Solutions Architect for network environments to accommodate up to 1,800 substations in the North Texas area for Smart Grid and AMS deployments while ensuring North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance by incorporating Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network (DMVPN), Internet Protocol Security (IPSEC), and Cisco’s Network Access Control (NAC)• Implemented NetQoS Reporter Analyzer for analyzing and trending performance and capacity management of WAN Networks saving clients unnecessary increases to a $13M annual telecom cost by determining what was consuming bandwidth and working with clients to manage that consumption• Application performance monitoring and analysis to pin point application response time issues and further avoid unnecessary WAN upgrades• In depth analysis of new application deployments to determine application characteristics and how they would perform in a WAN environment to determine Bandwidth, and Latency effects. This gave clients a clear view of application performance issues and where improvements could be made• Responsible for Quarterly Reports to the business units on network performance, including top 10 in each of the following categories; hardware (CPU and Memory Utilization), LAN Average Utilization, and WAN Average Utilization

Responsible for day to day operation and implementation of new technologies in support of TXU business units including:• Implemented IP telephony across MPLS network for toll bypass further reducing telecom spend for long distance and number of local lines required at each location for PBX connectivity• Transitioned the WAN network over a six month period, consisting of 150+ remote sites, from Frame-Relay to Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) saving $1M of a $4M annual telecom expenses while upgrading bandwidth to a minimum of 768K at each site• Modeled network and application environments to determine Bandwidth requirements and application response times in preparation for “off shoring” support of applications and systems to India. This allowed smooth transition of support while controlling telecom costs
