As a member of this team, the DVOP is responsible for consulting and coordinating with various representatives from the federal, state, and local programs to promote employment opportunities and employment assistance to qualified veterans of the armed forces.In cooperation with the federal Department of Veteran Affairs, the DVOP Specialist will develop outreach programs with local veteran organizations, employers, community-based organizations, and educational institutions to ensure maximum assistance is available to veterans of the armed forces.The DVOP Specialist will specifically promote the development of entry-level and career job opportunities, job training, apprenticeships, and vocational counseling services for veterans of the armed forces.

As an Army Reserve Career Counselor, I provides career counseling to Army Reserve Soldiers within my assigned area. I conducted retention and transition interviews. I was responsible for explaining incentives and benefits for the Soldiers. I interview Soldiers for their eligibility to continue their service in the Army Reserve. I prepared and processed documents for re-enlistments and coordinated the ceremonies. I was responsible for maintaining unit retention files on all of my assigned Soldiers. I advised leadership on retaining Soldiers within their organization. I was responsible for identifying personnel problems and ensures their leadership is informed and take the appropriate corrective action.

I was held responsible for preparing enlistment applications and processing qualified applicants to enlist in the Army Reserve.
