Ultimately, I am all about the process. I have spent the last decade as a high school educator, working with a variety of grade and skill levels. Whether working with an on-level or an advanced placement student, the goals and objectives remain the same in which I emphasize benchmarks on a pathway to development. The same has been true in my time as a baseball coach at the high school and college level. My objective in working with people, regardless of the arena, is to always develop the whole person and not just hone in on academia or athletics in a vacuum. I've been teaching in the Higley Unified School District since October of 2012. In that time, I have taught all four grade levels of English, AP Literature, American History, and World History. Current goals focus on increasing level of diversity in material, as well as thoughtful and intentional analysis of texts and historical context. In addition to teaching and coaching, I have spent time and a member of the staff at multiple baseball analytics websites, including FanGraphs and Baseball Prospectus. As a result, I've become well-versed in analytics as a discipline and have grown to a point where I realize its importance as a key component of sport.The sport world represents the next frontier of my professional endeavors. I obtained an Athlete Development Certification as a part of my Sport Management Masters degree from the University of Florida in December of 2021. My goal in any aspect of sport to focus on the development of both physical and mental skills in my athletes as an athlete development specialist, with a longer-term goal of becoming a sport psychology professional. My additional hope through these future endeavors is to make the sport more accessible for lower income communities.
