Crop Ventures, Inc. is a technology firm deploying first-to-market mobile and web technologies for farmers, implement dealers, software engineers and financial services firms.As director of engineering for Crop Ventures, Randy has overseen the design and development of specialized hardware for interfacing agricultural machinery to wireless mobile and cloud-based platforms. By combining expertise in wireless, GPS, CAN (ISO11783, J1939), and embedded systems, a new paradigm in ag data collection and analysis was introduced.

Lead engineer for various patient security products including wander management, mobility monitors, and infant tracking. Wireless System Design: WiFi, Bluetooth, 802.15.4, ISM-Band, and Near-Field.

Lead software engineer for development of Omron’s first Wireless Control Module (WCM) for Daimler-Chrysler 2006 cars. Functions included Remote Keyless Entry, Key Immobilizer, and Tire Pressure Monitoring. Responsible for firmware architecture, RF and LF decode and encryption, and RTOS integration.

Created an innovative General MIDI synthesizer and audio sub-system for cellphone base-band processors, chosen by Samsung for CDMA phone launch.Key member in development and verification/validation of Layer-1 GSM software that resulted in PrairieComm’s first GSM phone call.

Developed embedded software solutions for PC-audio, analog modems, and ADSL modems.Co-developed industry-standard specification for AC-97 (audio-codec 97) with Intel. Co-inventor on one patent related to AC-97.
