Summer Intern

Farmington Hills, Mi, Us

Conducted a project involved in regulating and controlling centrifugal force of the flyweight in the middle tolerance using a calibration bench. This could be achieved either by increasing or decreasing the weight of the individual flyweight. The project provided thorough exposure to areas like Production process, Manufacturing and assembling components used in Diesel fuel injection pumps and common rail diesel injection. In order to identify and analyze the best of Flyweights, the concept of quality control was adopted. Process capability indices were determined i.e. Capability Index (Cp and Cpk) via Normal Distribution curve. Data was accrued for several Flyweights on the basis of centrifugal forces acting on them at various distances when calibrated on calibration bench. However the apparatus used to calibrate flyweights had no fixture for finding centrifugal force of a specific type of flyweight called HOW Flyweight. Thus, the project also involved designing a fixture using AutoCAD 2004 as per company needs and monitor the manufacturing of the fixture. The new fixture was tested under extreme conditions and was found to be working satisfactorily.
