I worked on many systems, with high scaling and performances requirements. My system administrator skills improved significantly. I contributed to many projects, from architecture design to implementation and performance benchmarking.My job mainly consisted in automating baremetal deployments and making sure the operating systems we proposed to our customers worked correctly and optimally when installed on the various hardware configurations and processor architectures in our stock.I also had the opportunity to get my first machine learning experience, using time series forecast to contribute to a more global monitoring problem (patent, US202016859172)Among other successes:Baremetal spawn time in Public Cloud: brought down from 20 to 3 minutes.Security, countermeasures against rootkits and backdoors on baremetal with measured boots and system fingerprintingFast and streamable disk or file compression+backup/restore method, taking advantage of some hardware accelerations or filesystem properties to drastically shorten the restore process

I brought my former Openstack experience at Thalès in several distinct fields.Virtual networks: I helped designing and implementing a scalable and long lasting solution for the Public Cloud virtual machines public network.Virtualization and hypervisors: serveral alternative processor architectures to x86_64 (PPC64, ARMv8) were integrated.Object Storage: system administration, cluster management, scaling and monitoring. Some on-call duties at nights and weekends too.

Thalès Services ITOI was given the opportunity to get familiar with many technologies that were new to me: networks in information systems, virtualization. I contributed to an internal IaaS solution, based on Openstack open-source project. Among other things I worked on a critical security component, consisting in automating the dynamic and incremental configuration update of hardware firewalls. Coding languages: java and python.

The goal of this end-of-study project was to implement and compare two specific approaches designed to solve the following problem: optimize the two-year electricity production total cost by dispatching the demand over different production means (hydroelectric, nuclear or thermal). These approaches consisted in dynamic programming, and differentiable optimization. The code consisted mainly of C/C++ programming, coupled with OpenMP parallelization.
