In 2018, I was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor (Senior Lecturer) in my department. Shortly thereafter, I decided to pursue my PhD at UNSW Sydney from 2019, where I also gained invaluable international research experience. I resumed my full-time academic role at YARSI University in August 2024, bringing a global perspective and renewed focus to my work.Throughout my academic and research career, I have been involved in the field of positive clinical psychology, with projects focused on psychological resilience, mindfulness, self-compassion, gratitude, and mental health intervention. Now I am keen to understand the transdiagnostic protective and risk factors underlying well-being and resilience, as well as developing scalable digital strength-based interventions for populations in LMICs, particularly in Southeast Asia. Currently, I am the Chief Investigator of a project funded by the KONEKSI Australia-Indonesia Collaborative Research Grants, aimed at developing a culturally relevant web-based mindfulness intervention for young adults in Indonesia.

As a Principal Investigator, I lead collaborative research projects funded by KONEKSI focusing on advancing mental health care through digital and mindfulness-based interventions. My work aims to bridge gaps in mental health services, particularly in Indonesia, one of the LMICs in Southeast Asia. The international research collaboration team consists of YARSI University, UNSW Sydney, St. Vincent's Hospital Sydney, Universitas Indonesia, and Asosiasi Kesehatan Remaja Indonesia. The project will be run for two years with aims to develop and evaluate a culturally relevant web-based mindfulness intervention for Indonesian young adults, making a meaningful impact on communities across Indonesia. Through this fellowship, I am committed to fostering international collaboration and driving forward the field of global positive mental health.Key Duties Performed:- Research Leadership: Directing cross-cultural research initiatives that leverage digital innovations to improve mental health outcomes.-Project Management: Overseeing the planning, execution, and dissemination of research projects, ensuring they meet international standards of excellence.- Collaboration: Fostering strong partnerships with academic institutions, healthcare providers, and community organizations in both Indonesia and Australia.- Publication and Presentation: Publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences to contribute to the global discourse on mental health.

During this 5-year period, I took an academic career break with paid study leave status to pursue a PhD and gain international research experience at the School of Psychology, UNSW Sydney, Australia. My PhD studies were sponsored by the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP).

As Deputy Dean, my responsibilities included overseeing and managing the academic operations, evaluating the undergraduate psychology curriculum, monitoring student development and extracurricular activities, conducting tracer studies, maintaining alumni relations, and regularly reporting to the Dean on academic processes and evaluations.In February 2017, following organizational restructuring, I was appointed as Head of the Psychology Program. My responsibilities in this role included:Leading, managing, and monitoring faculty members’ activities in academics, research, and community outreach.Coordinating curriculum and learning outcomes evaluation for the undergraduate psychology program and initiating improvements based on these evaluations.Supervising the Department Secretary, Research Coordinator, and Community Outreach Coordinator to ensure institutional targets are met.Preparing regular and year-end reports for the Dean and University Rector, detailing achievements, challenges, and areas of concern within the unit.

I began my fulltime academic position with responsibilities across the three pillars of higher education: teaching, research, and community service:Teaching: Responsible for preparing, managing, and teaching courses related to Mental Health and Clinical Psychology. This includes developing course materials, delivering lectures, and designing final evaluations.Research: My primary research interests focus on the processes and promotion of positive development, well-being, and resilience, particularly among young people and vulnerable populations. I also conduct research from an Islamic Psychology perspective, exploring how Islamic values, such as gratitude, influence mental health.Community Engagement: Contribute as a keynote speaker for various community programs targeted at adolescents and young adults, covering topics like marriage preparation, healthy behaviors, mental health prevention, personality development, and other areas relevant to Clinical Psychology.Media and Outreach: Write articles, provide consultations on psychological topics in media, facilitate counseling sessions, and conduct psychological assessments for schools, individuals, and organizations.I was awarded my first academic functional rank as a Tenure Lecturer (Asisten Ahli) in 2014. In 2016, I received certification as a Professional Lecturer in Psychology from the Indonesian Ministry of Research and Higher Education.

As the Chief Investigator of an international research grant awarded by KONEKSI, I lead a collaborative project aimed at developing and evaluating a culturally adapted, web-based mindfulness intervention for Indonesian young adults. Working with early career scientists in mental health and public health from both Indonesia and Australia, as well as reputable researchers from Australia, our goal is to enhance access to mental health services in Indonesia, where professionals are scarce.This project focuses on assessing the usability, acceptability, and effectiveness of the intervention, fostering equitable research partnerships, and promoting mutual knowledge exchange. The findings will contribute to the creation of an evidence-based online mental health platform tailored to the needs of Indonesian young adults, addressing critical mental health disparities in the region. In this role, I manage the research team, oversee project milestones, and contribute to the design and dissemination of mental health interventions that aim to transform access to care in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

I collaborate with leading researchers in the fields of mental health and digital health innovations from UNSW and Black Dog Institute. I engage in high-level research activities, including the design of intervention frameworks, data analysis, and knowledge exchange between Indonesian and Australian institutions to ensure that our research is impactful and tailored to address mental health disparities in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), particularly in Southeast Asia.This incredible opportunity provides me with professional growth, allowing me to gain exposure to global research methodologies, expand my network, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for underserved populations.

Duties performed: assisted the exposure treatment in large group (10-15 participants each group), attended the training, and followed the trial protocol to ensure the ethical guidelines are achieved.2. A principal investigator in proposing research grant: "Evaluating the impacts and benefits of a web-based mental health intervention for Indonesian young people". Duties performed: Recruiting research team members and collaborators, leading collaboration in applying research grants, and writing manuscripts related to the project.

Study Skills Support facilitates academic skills development and time management for students registered with Equitable Learning Services (ELS), especially for them who have specific disabilities or health conditions that impact their ability towards certain general academic skills. Students can receive tutoring for one hour per week with a total of 10 hours per term.

PhD Thesis: Developing and evaluating a culturally-adapted internet-delivered mindfulness intervention for Indonesian university students experiencing psychological distress.Performed duties and skills during candidature:1. Planning, developing, and maintaining procedures that have an impact in all facets of research.2. Leading and coordinating 16 members of research assistant team who worked remotely from Indonesia by supervising participant recruitment strategy, implementation methodology, quality control, and support for the program.3. The Higher Degree Research (HDR) Peer Support Program is designed to support the transition of first year HDR candidates into UNSW. This program enables HDR candidates to share resources, tips and advice, and network with others in the program.

Joined a community of student volunteers passionate about student mental health and wellbeing. We are working towards challenging the stigma that surrounds mental health and making sure that students get the support that they need.

MAPS Program is for new students who are 21 years of age or over, took a break after high school or have worked professionally before starting or returning to study. As a mentor, I have a role for providing support and guidance for mature age students on how to adapt during transition and entering university life.

Peer mentor has role to provide some encouragement and support on the research journey of psychology honors student. Pairs of mentors run ~8 one-hour meetings, every 3-4 weeks throughout the course of term 1-3. In regular meetings mentors provide a safe space for discussion, advice, and run simple workshops.

PSIDAMAI aims to enhance the mental health and well-being of Indonesian communities through mindfulness-based interventions and digital innovations. Initially launched as part of my PhD research at UNSW Sydney, its development began in early 2020. Our first study (2020–2021) focused on designing a culturally relevant internet-based mindfulness program for Indonesian university students. This was followed by a pilot trial in mid-2021 and culminated in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) conducted from mid-2022 to early 2023.As the chief scientist, I lead the development of culturally adapted internet-based mindfulness interventions while supervising and organizing research and project teams. My role involves ensuring that team members have clear responsibilities, streamlined workflows, high-performance standards, and the consistent quality of research outputs.In mid-2024, the PSIDAMAI project secured new funding through the KONEKSI Australia-Indonesia Collaborative Research Grants. With this funding, we aim to expand our focus by creating an internet-based mindfulness program targeted for Indonesian young adults. The program will be designed to be more inclusive for GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) communities across Indonesia.

Research collaborator from Indonesia in the "Project Phenotype: Investigating digital markers as a novel means of detecting subgroups of young people who experience prominent amotivation." The project is funded by Wellcome-Trust Foundation, UK.

Black Dog Institute (BDI) has aim to create a mentally healthier world for everyone, through translational research.Involvement within BDI research team were started during PhD research as a Graduate Research Fellow. In 2022, I received EMERGE Research Award (value of AU$2500) for conducting the project: 'Randomised Controlled Trial of an internet-delivered mindfulness program for Indonesian university students'.

Provide clinical services as a psychologist, I am committed to assisting clients through evidence-based practices, includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and strength-based treatment approaches. My areas of specialization encompass various challenges such as adjustment and personal development difficulties, marital and relationship issues, as well as clinical mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, and trauma, with a particular focus on youth and adults.

Since my early days as an undergraduate psychology student, I have been regularly invited to speak, provide expertise, author content, and educate in various events. These engagements span a wide range of platforms, including talks, podcasts, media interviews, and scientific conferences. Muslim Exchange Program involves two-week visits to Australia by groups of young Indonesian Muslim community leaders and two-week visits to Indonesia by their Australian counterparts. The program is designed to build greater awareness among the Indonesian participants of Australia’s multicultural society and a greater awareness among the Australian participants of the nature of mainstream Islam in Indonesia.

Worked as part of the ad hoc body for organizing the General Election (Pemilu) in 2024. Performed duties are prepared the ballot before the day of election, collected and counted votes at the polling stations (TPS), served voters with their voting rights, and provided access and services to voters with disabilities. During the process, I built my skills on communication to varied stakeholders, excellency in community service, detailed orientation, and team working.

Elected to represent around 20,000 postgraduate coursework and research students at UNSW, the PGC Equity Office deals with the issues and interests of key demographics of any minority or disadvantaged groups.
