About Ray Cherry

I have been a chartered architect since 1994 and have extensive experience delivering a broad range of architectural services, mainly in the public sector in the Scottish Borders.I have experience of both large and small projects, ranging from initial, small-scale feasibility studies to multi-million pound design and delivery of major educational and other public buildings.My own practice, Ray Cherry Architect, was established in 2010 on a part time basis and has grown steadily from strength to strength with a number of successful projects undertaken. The majority of these have been for domestic clients in central and southern Scotland.Quality designs and bespoke solutions, tailored to the individual client, are key to the services that I offer.

It is my responsibility to manage the workload supply & delivery as well as to develop & instigate the operating business plan. I also retain the design responsibility for the larger projects that are undertaken. My role is also to provide corporate advice to Councillors & officers on architectural matters.I took up this role at the end of July 2014 in an interim capacity & have been reviewing the structure & service delivery since then. My aim is to grow the capacity of the Council's Architects section & to ensure that the focus is on design & high quality services to our clients.
