Treasury Funding Technology Lead for Europe and Asia

In my nine years at Jefferies, I played a pivotal role in growing the International operation from sixty people, when I joined, to over a thousand when I left. Initially, I acted as the only ‘change the bank’ resource outside the US, in a deputy CIO capacity. And for the first four years, I simultaneously fulfilled the Equities Business Manager role, reporting to the head of international equity trading. Following the restructuring of equities with a large intake of ex-Bear-Sterns equity staff in mid 2008, my role was changed to ‘Head of corporate systems’. I role which fulfilled until 2011, when I was asked to fill the newly created role of ‘Global Head of Treasury Technology’. In this treasury capacity, I designed, invested in and set-out the bank’s portfolio of Treasury services as electronically available consumable facilities with the objective of providing a set of plug-and-play commoditised resources to be quickly exploited by new and growing business units, providing STP capabilities and satisfying their information needs. These are some of my achievements…• Ran a global technology team of Business Analysts and C# developers based in New York, London and Hong Kong• Implemented the Fidessa trading hsystem for European Markets• Installed the Sungard GlobalOne stock loans system• Implementation of Fidessa in Tokyo for trading on Tokyo and JASDAQ stock exchanges• Two regulatory system installations, STB & FRS Global.• Architected the ION Bond trading system integration• Built a bespoke order management solution for the Wealth department• Built a full STP environment for a fledgling FX business spanning ECN connectivity, market making functionality via FIX, trade booking, trade matching, business intelligence, etc• Rapidly Implemented a Liquidity Risk solution from scratch• Implemented a multi-asset cash usage calculation engine• Implemented a PowePivot 2010 BI solution• Installed the TwoFour treasury trading system

Complete overhaul of Market & Credit risk reporting. Designed and built the complete branch infrastructure to fully meet local risk management needs for a 60 seat Treasury trading operation. Key components included the design and delivery of; a near real-time trades warehouse, price feed handlers, pseudo real-time intranet based reporting suite, limits management, credit risk module and an intra-day, high performance, variance-covariance VAR engine operating on a 20 second processing cycle, for all exposures.

Had global responsibility for Fidessa V1, Equity Sales systems, Stock Loans, Research Production and Derivatives. Also performed as Global head of Y2K programme (Feb 1998 to Feb 1999) as Dutch regulators set the compliance date a year early as 1 Jan 1999 and Head of Treasury Technology where I implemented a new treasury busienss unit, from GL to front office systems (inc Firm Funding, Interest claims management, cost of carry, nostro forecasting, cash management & FX trading services) and also implemented liquidity controls manadated by the Bank of England.

Held various roles, culminating in head of Equity Swaps Technology. Started as internal consultant (1 year), after one year became Quality Manager for a further year, then took over as Head of International Equity Derivatives and finally focused on developing the then booming CFD and Equity Swaps businesses.

Senior operating consultant working on bespoke Financial systems design and implementation, including Artificail Inteligence trading systems, price feed handlers & price distribution, real-time ADR/Ordinary arbitrage trading, statistical pairs trading, ticker plants, exchange traded derivatives processing and FX trading for clients including LIFFE, Reuters, Drexel Burnham & Lambert & UBS.
