After 22 years, leaving the military, I searched for direction and asked myself, “what now” and where do you go”? I was blessed to run into a Director from North Texas State Hospital who suggested that I apply for a Vehicle Driver position that was open. I didn’t know anything about the state hospital, not even the location. I applied, was hired and 15 years later, I have loved this job.From being a vehicle driver for Food Service, to being a Psychiatric Nurses’ Aide (1, 2, & 3), a Human Service Tech for Forensic, The Commitment Office Supervisor, to now being the Retention/Recruitment Specialist for North Texas State Hospital.What a journey, but more importantly, what a place to work, where opportunities abound. The military taught me how to lead, working and service our staff and our clients here at NTSH, have shown me what it means to be a “Difference Maker” and I Love my 2nd career.
