Leading a team of 52 specialists, I oversee the management and review of crime intelligence. I hold responsibility for the authorisation, deployment and legal compliance around all covert activity. Responsible for the supervision of all intelligence and specialist operations across the Thames Valley area, encompassing 13 local policing areas and leading 550 members of staff. I led operational teams in the disruption and dismantling of serious organised crime groups; utilising covert tactics to develop intelligence and evidence to secure convictions. I managed force tasking and the Tactical Co-ordination Group; a key forum for decision making around high priority threat risk and harm. I delivered an effective intelligence provision to support a range of settings, from proactive policing and field intelligence through to support departments including firearms licensing, overseas registration, ANPR, data barring and family courts. During this time, I led one of the largest fraud investigations undertaken by a UK police force. This successful investigation was particularly challenging, requiring the management of high levels of documentation and disclosure, I implemented effective protocols to support the delivery of significant convictions. Leading this diverse portfolio, I reviewed the management, organisational performance and partnership working practices to identify and implement improvements. I secured a 20% saving of budget whilst maintaining exceptional levels of service delivery.
