Software Engineer - Whisker Witchery
Salt Lake County, Utah, United States
I worked as a leading developer for Whisker Witchery, a third-person stealth platformer. I pitched the initial game idea and have followed through with the game ever since, which led to a successful launch on Steam in April 2023. I worked primarily as a Software Engineer, but I picked up additional roles throughout the project, including UI design/implementation, social media management, and 2D illustration. Here is a summary of my contributions:• Created UE5 Blueprints to assist in various game features, including but not limited to: checkpoints and respawning, vine-growing mechanics, climbing movement, timed intro/outro sequences, collecting in-game ingredients, and miscellaneous bug-fixing throughout the project• Produced the majority of the UI design, including the layouts for the title screen, pause screen, tutorial scroll page, and gameplay HUDs• Illustrated several UI icons, including the control buttons for the main gameplay HUD and icons for interactable objects• Created detailed lineart for the introduction storybook sequence• Created various promotional 2D art for the game and created/scheduled social media posts to advertise the game• Frequently recorded playtests and collected gameplay notes for the user research team to actively learn from playtest feedback• Assisted in production-level responsibilities such as presenting for milestone gameplay reviews and promotional Twitch streams and communicating with team members to meet production deadlines
