Projects include:Upgrading the network infrastructure of 5 different sites from Token Ring to Ethernet. This had to be achieved with no loss of service & therefore required a great deal of intricate move planning.Cisco Switch upgrade programme in association with Cable & Wireless to allow for voice over IP.Desktop refresh project across the South West of England, 5000+ users successfully migrated from NT, OS2, & Citrix to one common XP solution.Laptop refresh project 1200 laptops deployed, this included secure dial.Various office, moves, changes, installs & decommissions everything from a dozen machines & users to the decommissioning of one offices.Managed the relocation of 2 offices in Exeter in to a brand new building. This was a purpose built building with a budget of £500k. 450 users were moved over 1 weekend into the new building & started working with the new hardware & software with no business down time.

Projects include:I was the hospital’s Y2K Project Manager and had to oversee all the IT teams together with the teams from different areas within the hospital to ensure that all our Government imposed targets and checks were met. I was responsible for the selection, installation and implementation of 2 Helpdesk systems, the last being totally Web based. I also introduced and implemented Optical Mark Reading software. I managed a project to provide support and the re-write of an Oracle based application. This application was used at 21 different hospitals in England and Northern Ireland. This project had a value of £300k and was subject to EU Tender rules. The most complex problem was trying to get agreement from 21 different IT departments and Hospital Trusts. The installation of a microwave voice and data link between Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals.Development of a Telemedicine solution for Dermatology.

I joined Southern Newspapers after being involved in the pre-sales and development of a desktop based system for the publication of three of their weekly titles. I was rapidly promoted to work for the group to help with all forms of desktop electronic publishing.I was responsible for the maintenance and development of existing systems (92 titles across 21 sites) and research of new computer systems/software for the media industry. I had overall responsibility for each of the 21 sites IT Departments and control of the groups research and development budget.
