The National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City (NAMI- NYC Metro) is a grassroots organization that provides supports, education and advocacy for families and individuals of all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds who live with mental illness. As the largest affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, NAMI-NYC works collaboratively with state and national affiliates, and with other stakeholders in the community, to educate the public, advocate for legislation, reduce stigma and improve the mental health services.

Raymond Schwartz is a highly skilled nonprofit executive and manager with a deep knowledge of current health care policy and over 35 years of experience in the mental health field. For over 20 years, first as associate executive director and then as executive director, he guided Venture House, an accredited and respected New York City Clubhouse, to successfully support people with a serious mental illness at the same time meeting the challenges of a changing health care financing environment. During his tenure, he expanded services to include a full range of employment, wellness and educational supports, additional supported housing, a greater range of independent living skills resulting in an organization well positioned to meet the challenges of managed care.
