About Raymond Jones

Now retired, my thanks to those agencies who supported me since redundancy in 2007, and were impartial regarding my physical disability. I especially thank NFU Mutual, who provided me with many contracts over several years, enabling me to regain some of the premiums I paid over 28 years as a smallholder. I have been privileged to work in an industry I decided to join aged 13, after mastering sufficient Fortran to drive an Elliot mainframe computer. I cherish the memories of proving wrong many colleagues who said "it will never work", just as I cherish those who had the confidence to let me innovate anyway. Discrimination from higher echelons has hindered my career in every company I've worked for, but success in solution delivery has been my reward, as much as seeing them choke. To my close colleagues and team players who contributed to my successes, causing me to refine and polish our deliverables, I will always respect and wish you all continued prosperity. In addition to 30+ years in IT and Business related roles, I have other interests as a Charity Treasurer, Small Enterprise advisor and BTL Landlord and Stock Market Investor. I have worked with more than 100 businesses including Argos, GE, Barclays, ITV Studios, ICL-Fujitsu, McDonalds, Weatherspoons, NFU Mutual and various SME businesses. For most of them dealing with owners, directors, accountants and operations management as well as "shop floor administrators"​ (often the most knowledgeable). My aim is to deliver a solution that is accurate, beneficial and workable. I have mentored many who have attempted "optimal profit"​ solutions that never leave the runway because they are too complex or unwieldy. I am a team player and tend to underplay my deliverables as I'd rather exceed stakeholder expectations than disappoint. My favourite projects are those where the sponsor does not know where to start, and allows me freedom to innovate. I accommodate all contributions, without prejudice and prepared to quantify why they should/should not be adopted so others will follow (and sometimes adopt) my reasoning.I have also worked at NHS & RVS (Non-Profit) and a couple of very small charities covering Best Practise, website development and and book-keeping roles. I even have a couple of utube videos out there.
