Ray is the Founder and President of Petros Network in Portland OR. Petros Network is a church planting organization that has established over 6,300 indigenous churches in unreached villages that have led over 1.3 million people to faith in Christ in East Africa and Southeast Asia. Ray has an earned doctorate in missiology, offering an alternative to the traditional cross-cultural missiology employed by most traditional Western mission-sending agencies. While highly disruptive, Ray’s indigenous missiology has enabled national churches in under-resourced parts of the world to unleash their own church planting movements among unreached people groups. Ray served as a lead pastor for several decades before stepping full-time into this ministry he founded, along with his wife, Linda, in 2012. He passionately believes that where a person is born shouldn't limit their access to the transforming story of God’s saving grace through Jesus Christ. He also believes that when a church is planted in an unreached village, all of life in the village, for believers and unbelievers alike, should drastically improve through the example of Christ’s followers living out the ethic of God’s kingdom—a term he has coined as Redemptive Lift.
