In this competitive law school clinic, I have showcased my dedication to increasing government transparency, defending the essential work of newsgatherers, and protecting freedom of expression through impact litigation, direct legal services, and policy work. The freedom of information litigation conducted by my team led to our client winning the New England Freedom of Information Award (2024). The petition for a writ of certiorari filed by my team was listed on SCOTUSBlog's Petitions to Watch (2024).In this role, I have performed both trial and appellate work:1. I helped draft the cert petition in NPPA v. Higgins (5th Cir. 2024). Working as the sole summer fellow, I drafted the reply brief for the petition, which was of course edited by my supervisors. The petition was subsequently listed on SCOTUSBlog's Petitions to Watch.2. I prepared drafts of complaints and communicated directly with clients about legal strategies in a freedom of information matter that eventually won a regional award.3. I drafted countless research memos.4. I drafted document requests, interrogatories, and deposition outlines.5. I drafted multiple appellate amicus briefs.

In this role, I worked for Judge Darian Pavli, the judge elected with respect to Albania.My duties involved reading pre-publication opinions and offering my insights either in the form of written memos or in discussions within his office. This review required not only analyzing the opinions, but also reviewing the underlying materials, like the Applicant and Government briefs, or (legal) evidence submitted by the parties to the court. As a member of the Jurisconsult, I was also tasked with helping to synthesize the Court’s existing case law on the freedom of expression into clear and concise summaries that would be useful for practitioners.I left this opportunity to work on a SCOTUS reply brief with the MFIA clinic, as I was the sole Summer Fellow who was familiar with the case.

In this role, I worked with Professor Robert Post to update the Restatement (Third) of Torts: Privacy and Defamation. I am continuing to build my understanding of the limits of free speech with this work.

In this role, I worked with David Schulz (Floyd Abrams Lecturer at YLS and Senior Counsel at Ballard Spahr) on updating Newsgathering and the Law, the leading treatise in press law for 2024. I am continuing to build my understanding of the First Amendment and free speech through this work.

In this highly competitive role, I was a "citizen diplomat" at the University of Malang. Beginning at A1 in Indonesian, I - with the help of my teachers - skyrocketed to C1 in Indonesian (as gauged by the OPI). I helped to spread American values and developed mutual understanding with Indonesians. In fact, I received a congressional accolade for my time in Malang.

The Woodrow Wilson Fellowship is an extremely competitive research grant, worth $10,000, provided by Johns Hopkins University. My project was with Dr. Marc Stein and Dr. Stephen Morgan from the School of Education and Department of Sociology (respectively) about a comparative project between education in Singapore and Baltimore. This project (The Global Excellence Gap) is the first-ever global perspective on the excellence gap, and it proposes a new paradigm at understanding inequality in gifted education.

In this role, I represented the College Democrats of Maryland to different organizations, such as gubernatorial campaigns, state parties, other federations, and the DNC. I supervised communication and advocate for issues relevant to college students in Maryland. I also managed my administration, communications, relations with other CDMD chapters, campaign activities, and various events planning.In 2022, I set up and moderated a gubernatorial primary debate, as well as made connections with central committees in various cities to provide students with a voice.

In this role, I translated legal material for Spanish-speaking immigrants utilizing techniques from professional translation courses. Before January 2023, this was freelance document translation whenever necessary. After January 2023, I worked in the court office, doing both interpretation and facilitation (which includes registering immigrants for intake). I was also able to work in Portuguese and French when necessary.
