Acted as evaluation advisor to the Empowering Bystanders Grant, providing advice and assistance in designing, administering and analyzing survey data from two high schools involved in an anti-bullying intervention. Surveys were designed to assess and evaluate student norms and attitudes regarding the roles involved in bullying situations. Data was collected via anonymous surveys, and analyzed using STATA software.

Conducted qualitative and quantitative analysis and research regarding food security and related issues in sub-Saharan African areas, specifically in Mali. Crop data and census data were analyzed from two surveys, one in 2001 and one in 2010. Results of this analysis were prepared for publication with other graduate fellows working on the project and were published in the Journal of Global Health Perspectives on November 1, 2012. Conducted research regarding traditional women’s roles in agriculture in rural Mali and sub-Saharan Africa. This research was part of a publication in the Journal of Global Health Perspectives on August 1, 2012.

Worked with members of the Health Programs department conducting focus groups, literature reviews, environmental scans, key informant interviews and patient interviews. Conducted note taking, qualitative analysis, and report writing for a Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder program being developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Conducted literature reviews regarding community health workers and promotoras (Hispanic community health workers) for a project with the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute and presented findings to project supervisors. An environmental scan on treatment and patient needs for sickle cell anemia was also conducted for the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute. An environmental scan and patient experiences interviews were conducted for the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Information Center in order to help elicit information patients find helpful to be used in creating new treatment guidelines for traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and severe burn injury.

Worked with Medtronic staff and consultants from General Electric to test and design a custom implementation of GE Centricity software for internal use at Medtronic’s Diabetes sales division. The software was designed to encompass electronic medical records, sales, billing, insurance, compliance and internal tracking data. As design neared completion, was transferred into the Sales Training division, designing and implementing a training curriculum for 200 employees. Training was conducted in small groups of 20 to 30 employees. Training progress was evaluated through metrics developed for the training program and administered in classes and online via internet survey methods.

Conducted over the phone sales with patients for insulin pumps and related diabetic therapies. As part of this work, consistently communicated with doctors, nurses, insurance representatives and government authorized dealers to ensure accurate transfers of medical records, insurance and governmental compliance, and HIPPA compliance. Continuously tracked an evaluated personal performance using company and individually created metrics to ensure sales targets and compliance goals were met. Worked with supervisors and coworkers to develop efficient and compliant methods for improving performance.

Supervised groups of 5 to 20 employees in professional fundraising and canvassing events throughout southern Wisconsin. Fundraising activities including street canvassing, door to door canvassing and event planning at local venues. Conducted interviews, training and management of employees daily, and evaluated employee performance and adjusted training accordingly. Designed and evaluated canvassing strategies to maximize fundraising in the region. A fundraising concert was planned and promoted at a local music venue and involved recruiting regional musicians and celebrities.
