Managing the running of the library service.

● Increased the electronic reach of the information service, changing the culture from that of a physical service with an electronic arm to one of a national, electronic service with a physical presence in London.● Restructured the information services team, creating an effective team better suited to new challenges.● Was involved in developing health care knowledge services nationally; for example, I worked with the NHS England Strategic Health Authority (SHA) library leads development group. I helped them develop a programme to foster and reward innovation in knowledge services.● Successfully led bids for, or renegotiated, a number of contracts● Initiated and oversaw the delivery of a number of innovative products and service including being one of the first libraries in the U.K. to use an open source library management system● Led the creation of a three-year information services strategy.● Managed the information services budget.

● Led a London-wide project aimed at determining the competencies and knowledge information and library staff required to enhance their support of learners. I won a £35k bid to support this project. ● Developed and implemented a common strategy for NHS libraries in south west London● Performance managed libraries in south west London● Played a key role in devising strategy for all health libraries in London’s NHS● Led a number of London-wide initiatives aimed at ensuring that NHS libraries supported organisational objectives. Examples include:- patient information - ensuring that libraries created partnerships to support the patients’ choice agenda- widening access- aimed at ensuring that all NHS staff could benefit from knowledge services as part of their professional development
