After a couple of years, I worked as a consultant in system development assignments, and as mentor for other companies that learned new versions of DataFlex.Today, DataFlex is an almost forgotten product, but it was big at the end of the eighties and the beginning of the nineties. In the early nineties, an object oriented programming version was released with language features that .NET didn’t include until WPF was introduced. There was also a large class library targeted for developing line-of-business applications in an effective way. This is of course history today, but gave me a very solid background in object oriented techniques and frameworks, which I later applied when extending Microsoft’s development tools.Even if Eurosoft became a distributor of a development tool, it didn’t start that way. They had ideas that were a reaction against the waterfall development processes that were common at the time. They developed a method called the “Aggressive method” that was similar to what we today call agile development. This culture was dominant within the company, and something I learned at an early stage in my long career. Show less
