For many years, Fortis Riders (rebranded to Fortis) relied heavily on outside contractors. With explosive growth in 2016, I was hired to recruit and build an internal team of engineers, designers, and interns. We built and maintained products in Swift, Kotlin, React, and Ruby on Rails hosted on AWS. Four of our public facing mobile apps are listed below.

I was fortunate to be part of a talented team building iOS and Android apps for BMW employees, dealers, and customers around the world and in 26 languages.

Since 2009, I've led teams of iOS and Android developers to build mobile applications. While an independent developer, I was fortunate to work with great companies such as Agilysys, Relay Foods, David Lebovitz, Speek, NoChains and Rice Bowls.My favorite project was for the non-profit Rice Bowls. We built a game, Hunger Crunch, to educate and help kids fight hunger around the world. We were fortunate to win Facebook’s Social Good App of the Year in 2015. I've was fortunate to work with the talented team at Speek since the beta product was released. I built and maintained the iOS app since version 1.0; helped hire and direct the Android team; collaborated with the design team through several iterations; and participated in the design and documentation of the mobile API.Speek was dissolved in 2015. Startups are hard.

Homebrewed was the company behind Tavern, a social network for craft beer enthusiast. "Share the beers you love with the people you like."This project ended in July, 2015.

In my time at Agilysys I helped incubate new products and services. I was the product and technical lead on- ReadySave: a Java based application that collects and stores purchase history from POS, matches the purchase history to discounted items in a grocery store, and display those items to loyalty card holders at a kiosk- Agilysys Retail Core: a set of Oracle POS enhancements that support JBoss, MySQL, and SpringSource Hyperic- NextPosition Mobile Point of Sale: a mobile POS product that is tightly integrated with Oracle, IBM, and SAP POS. This solution is available on Apple hardware (iOS, iPod Touch and iPad) and Motorola, Android-based hardware. Both versions are native applications built in Objective-C and Java.I also- managed software development teams (specifically Java, iOS/Objective-C, and Android)- been the technical contact for Agilysys Retail partners (IBM, Oracle, VeriFone, Motorola, and others)- helped support production 24x7x365 retail solutions- assisted with technical pre-sales- reviewed legal documents for technical accuracy- evaluated partnerships and acquisitions- planned trade shows- authored marketing material- co-authored the white paper, "Design and Deliver Mobile Point of Service"

- Led a team of software engineers in designing and developing a distributed real-time data-collection system. The system consists of two parts: a data-collection application written in C++ running on the real-time operating system VxWorks and a data-display application written in Java running on Linux. In addition to software design and development, my duties included overseeing the design of a wide area network and several local area networks, interviewing the customer, developing requirements documents, developing a project plan, and managing resources for this project. - Used Visual Basic, Active Server Pages, VBScript, JavaScript, and MS Access to developed a web application for tracking software change requests. - Actively participated in the development and implementation of a comprehensive software process (CMM Level 2 certified). This process provided an ordered framework for requirements gathering, project planning, software design, software implementation, software testing, and system installation.- Co-administrator for a Windows NT network and IIS web server.
