It is my belief, both from a professional and personal viewpoint, that in helping others expand, we expand. Early in my career, I equipped students with the self-knowledge of their values, strengths, and interests to use as a guide for navigating their academic careers. In my pivot to graduate advising, I guide people through processes by providing resources and troubleshooting situations when plans veer off course. Facilitating growth in students has nurtured my value for curiosity and expanded my capacity for empathy and social awareness. Seeking more opportunities to facilitate growth, I co-chaired a staff mentorship program in addition to my advising role. I optimized the organizational functioning by restructuring roles, creating bylaws, and augmenting processes. I fostered successful and creative collaboration by leveraging the collective brainpower of our diverse committee.
