Product Management and Leadership of 3d creative team

I grew a team of visualization experts from 4 to 14 over 5 years; artists, game developers and visualization specialists producing design visualization media and 3d visualization software. Responsibilities included; department P&L (~2.8M/yr), recruiting, strategic partnerships, business development, project management, mentoring, consulting, strategy and execution. In this role I ensured a strong profitable return for the business each year, diversified our revenue sources for the division, and drove outreach efforts to develop new relationships with Fortune 500 clients who had never worked with the company previously.Clients & Brands supported: Procter & Gamble (Virtual Solutions, all product categories), Whirlpool (Kitchenaid, Amana), Motorola (Motorola Solutions), Ford, Stryker, Johnson & Johnson (Ethicon EndoSurgery, Depuy Synthes/Mitek), Cook Medical, Smith & Nephew, Target, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics.

Served as the VP for AAUGA's Executive Committee. AAUGA is a non-profit association dedicated to serving local community user groups for the Autodesk Entertainment Media product categories (Maya, 3d Studio Max). While most of our members and chapters focus on Autodesk animation products, we are open to all persons interested in any 3d animation technologies. Our goal is to foster professional development, networking, and educational development for our members at a regional level with global support and collaboration.

I founded DesignVis in mid 2003 and combined those activities with Kaleidoscope in 2008. While operating DesignVis LLC, we provided 3d visualization services and consulting for product development, marketing and consumer research related projects.

Responsible for managing the Design Visualization Center (DVC) and content creation activities related to the center. The centerpiece of the DVC was an 18'x8' rear projected visualization wall with stereo-3d capabilities, driven by clustered SGI computing hardware, and eventually a Windows and Mac based display system. We specialized in the production of 3d renderings, animations and virtual reality experiences of concept products, packaging, and retail POS displays to drive informed decision making and shorten the design & sales cycles for our products. These activities helped to support and drive category ownership with retail partners like Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Circuit City.

Responsible for creating design visualization content for our Design Visualization Center. Assisted in managing the activities in the center and keeping the facilities operational. Was promoted to Director of Design Visualization in January 2006.

Worked between the animation, interactive, and design groups providing advanced visualization services and expanding their capabilities with new technnologies.
