Project Shoebox Oxford is a community giving project. We collect unwanted & unused toiletries, beauty products etc and wrap them into gift packages for women who need such help. They can be starting again after leaving a home where they suffered from domestic violence. Maybe they find themselves homeless and possibly on the streets. Perhaps they have just arrived in Oxford as a refugee from another country. The goods are distributed through relevant agencies such as Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Services, Matilda House and The Gatehouse (for the homeless), Refugee Resource and Asylum Welcome (for refugees). Co-organiser of the production and distribution of seasonal promotional material (Christmas cards and Easter cards) to over 10,000 households in the Headington area of Oxford.

An ecumenical grouping of Christian Churches in Headington, Oxford. When I was asked to take on the post of treasurer the finances were a little 'muddled': no idea of who owed them money and a pile of unpaid bills. In consultation with the chair I worked out the organisation's needs and goals and put the finances on a sound and effective footing. This included such things as writing to members who hadn't paid subs and asking them for money! I provided regular updates to Committee meetings, enabling it to see exactly where they stood financially and so enter into future commitments with vision disciplined by financial prudence.

Dealing with all things on the Accounts Payable side of a company recently acquired by the Jonas group; AMI Education is now trading as Easytrace. From raising purchase orders to processing invoices for payment, expense claims, organising payment runs, producing reports on intercompany balances/reconciliation and answering questions, producing the quarterly VAT return. Assisted with the transition of the accounting platform to the new owners.

Library – administrative assistant (casual contract) March 2010 to January 2011Finance responsibilities: coding of invoices on EDMS when colleagues absent; provide support in running enquiries on finance system; assisting colleagues with Excel / Word problems. Database cleanup & maintenance: assisting with ensuring that upgrade of library system proceeded smoothly; data clean up on incorrect records, making sure those records with missing key data corrected. Monthly sales reports on key titles for Sales Manager and trade representatives. Responsible for correlation of weekly statistics from Sales Force (27 people) and sending league tables to Sales Managers. Administration of sales bonus scheme. Keeping the financial records in order for the adult voluntary choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford.

A maternity cover position; assisting the unit administrator in all aspects of finance and recruitment. Deputised for the Unit Administrator while the replacement person for the post was recruited.

While studying theology at Regent College I also held a series of teaching assistant & work study posts thus gaining experience in a variety of areas of academic administration. I started in the finance section, going through boxes of dusty files!

An unfortunately short lived post due to company closure, windup and disposal of assets. It helped develop co-operation and networking within the Christian community in Calgary; the model that it developed spread to other areas and is still going strong in BC.

Member of a research team trying to understand the formation of unregulated diesel engine emissions with the aim of reducing them to meet proposed US & European tail pipe emission standards.
