Built a new department within the museum's STEM Equity & Education Division with the goal of intentionally engaging and co-creating community based programming with individuals and groups underrepresented or disconnected from museum experiences. We identify and focus museum resources to build and strengthen collaborative and co-creative relationships with people, groups and organizations who represent a broader diversity of voices and experiences, better reflecting our region’s citizens as visitors and program participants.

- Co-created museum programming with community members to support institutional racial equity and inclusion goals. - Created a new departmental program area - Career and Community Connections - to support high school and college age young people of color and those from families with limited incomes to become socially conscious, civically engaged citizens actively building opportunities for themselves and others. This includes College and Career Access programming for middle and high school participants, alumni network development, STEM Justice internship experiences, leadership development workshops, and community engagement job opportunities for 18-24 year old young adults. - Built and strengthened new museum-community partnerships to support the college and career aspirations of young people and provide STEM learning opportunities for community members with: Minnesota College Access Network, North Star STEM Alliance, St. Paul Sprockets Network, East Metro Integration District, Ramsey County Youth LEAD Programs, and local AmeriCorps programs. - Co-led strategic visioning and planning processes for the department. Incorporated assessment tools and tracking to measure the success of programs. Developed logic models for program areas. - Managed and supported a multigenerational team of full- and part-time staff, interns, AmeriCorps members and volunteers. Developed and oversaw project and operational budgets for staffing and programming.

- Developed an innovative paid internship program for college-aged young people (ages 18-24) to explore intersections of STEM learning and social justice. Created and facilitated monthly leadership development workshops for interns, inviting community members to share their skills and wisdom as well.- Built a foundation for alumni engagement by cultivating relationships with past program participants.- Began tracking and reporting system for high school graduation and college and career success of program participants.

Managed two groups of twelve high school students on multi-year projects to develop earth science and environmental studies activities they facilitated for younger students and museum visitors. Cultivated asset based and culturally conscious approaches to engage young people from backgrounds underrepresented in STEM careers in museum based education work.

• Directed a two year community research project to explore citizens’ knowledge, attitudes and behaviors around water quality, in which 238 residents were surveyed (2004) and 22 residents engaged in in-depth follow up interviews (2005) in two south Minneapolis neighborhoods • Assisted program director with planning and managing daily logistics and activities for the undergraduate Environmental Sustainability: Science, Politics & Public Policy Program

• As assistant director: trained and evaluated groups of twelve and twenty-five staff members in youth leadership, environmental education, and work management techniques; Cooperatively oversaw the planning, logistics, and overall success of ten to thirteen simultaneous one to four week public service conservation projects • As crew leader: supervised one and two week conservation projects for diverse groups of 15-18 year old youth throughout northern Minnesota. Incorporated workforce readiness, teambuilding and environmental education in to the learning experiences.
