Thank you for visiting my page! I have worked in higher education for the last ten years in all kinds of capacities, including research, teaching, teacher preparation, administration, advising, funding, and instructional design. After earning my PhD in musicology, I went on to work as a professor and researcher, before moving into academic administration. These experiences have all led me to my current passion: helping graduate students to make the most out of their time in graduate school and go on to find meaningful work. These are some of my core values:★PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT encompasses so many important activities, including cultivating a life-work balance, networking, involvement in campus organizations, and keeping up with the latest work in your field. I encourage my students to set aside time for this critical kind of preparation.★CAREER PLANNING is so important for graduate students. I think grad students should be exposed to a breadth of career possibilities to consider. PhDs in any discipline are an extremely valuable asset whether inside or outside academia and can learn to be expert advocates for themselves.★RESEARCH AND PUBLISHING is an essential ingredient for graduate students no matter where they plan to take their degrees. Thanks to my experience publishing my own research in musicology, I have first-hand experience with the competitive world of academic publishing and teach people how to strategize their research program to maximize their professional impact.Besides these professional interests, I am also a huge lover of animals. I spend my evenings cuddling with my Dachshund, Chihuahua, and West Highland White Terrier. Sometimes I even invite a foster dog into the mix.
