Software architect and developer for real-time big data flow, meteorological and hydrological algorithmic processing and display. This job has allowed me to gain experience in system administration, database management, systems programming, artificial intelligence and real-time processing. For example, I wrote an entire build system in Python for handing our massive specialized build of the MRMS system. I also created another system in Perl for starting/stopping and monitoring thousands of real-time meteorological algorithm processes that are used by the National Weather Service nationwide. I've had to create wikis, specialized web-pages, and worked with multiple databases. I designed and created a research display system in OpenGL for displaying experimental in-house data formats in 3D, using isosurfaces and other visualization methods. I design and work on real-time algorithms for processing real-time big data. Either by myself or in a team, the goal is to continually squeeze more computational power and speed and efficiency into our real-time weather algorithms and systems.Currently I code in C++, Python and Java every day, using other languages at will if needed.In my spare time, I program a 3D graphics display in Java for viewing high-resolution real-time meteorological volume data which may someday replace the C++ version here at NSSL.
