Until March 2022 I was one of the Education and Training Foundation's team of Regional Specialist Leads for English and Maths, supporting colleges and other providers in the FE and Skills sector. I now offer similar support, advice and training but as a freelance consultant. Until June 2022 I wall also one of a team of five Research Group Leads working on the ETF's national Outstanding Teaching and Learning Programme which funds providers to explore challenging aspects of maths and English teaching through action research.I originally trained as a Special Educational Needs teacher in the secondary sector before working extensively as an adult literacy tutor and curriculum manager with Norfolk Adult Education Service and then Gt Yarmouth College. In 2004 I moved to Association of Colleges in the Eastern Region (ACER) to become a founder member of the regional Skills for Life teacher training team. In 2014 I was appointed as the ETF Regional Specialist Lead for Maths and English, to help design, promote and deliver the range of ETF-subsidised CPD opportunities for maths and English practitioners. I am particularly interested in the use of digital technology in English and maths teaching and have specialised in embedded delivery models on vocational programmes as well as in workplace provision.
