“Silence can be either protest or consent, but most times it’s fear” is a quote that not only resonates with me but I am learning to live by. Far too often we do the easy thing instead of the right one. We switch directions when we come up against pain, neglect and injustice instead of facing it head-on and accepting the challenge. I have not only learnt to accept life’s challenges but I am leaning in!I have had a challenging yet successful career thus far and have been able to combine my experience in project management with my expertise in academic administration in order to carve out a new niche for myself within equity, anti-racism and anti-oppression in the workplace. I am a strong advocate, supporter and facilitator of the rights and responsibilities of the organization and its employees. Developing, promoting and implementing equitable and inclusive practices are not simply a part of my job but a passion. Equity across all sectors for all people is not a luxury it is a necessity. I believe in an anti-racist and anti-oppression approach to creating equitable policies, practices, services and programs which requires taking action to change the infrastructure and systems that inherently deny some people full rights while privileging others. I not only have a passion for human rights, but also animal rights, CrossFit, continuing education, self-improvement, social responsibility and anything bacon.
