Senior Manager Of Sales
As the Senior Manager of Sales, I was responsible for Business Development and the retail Mortgage Sales team. My team was charged with cultivating our sales culture. We designed tools and implemented training to increase member acquisition and engagement. For Member Solutions, I facilitated strategic planning to set direction, identify, and prioritize key deliverables. I represented the division on projects and served as the liaison to key stakeholders throughout the organization. Business DevelopmentWe had three core strategies: Events, Affinity Relationships, and Partnership with the branches. Events and Affinity Relationships focused on increased acquisition and bringing the credit union to the people. We managed local advertising and community outreach and developed campaigns to increase the value proposition for our members. A key objective in the branch partnership was increased member engagement. We developed and implemented a Member Notes tool to deepen relationships with members and launched an Engagement Coaching strategy to provide tools and a structured approach for managers to evaluate and improve member interactions.Mortgage SalesThe retail Mortgage Sales team was a new approach in our front-line strategy. Mortgage Specialists served the Neighborhood Financial Centers, while Mortgage Advisors worked out of key locations in our footprint. In addition to leading the Specialists and Advisors, we served as the liaison to the mortgage department. Key objectives included: increasing knowledge and improving the member experience, specific to mortgage lending. This was accomplished through coaching staff and working directly with members on complex mortgage transactions.
Director, District Retail Delivery
In 2008, we restructured creating a new leadership model with oversight over more branches. I was the least tenured Regional Manager and a former peer became my direct report. With 10 managers from 3 distinctly different regions, I was tasked with creating a cohesive team, fostering collaboration and consistency, and growing the business in Thurston, Kitsap, and Pierce counties. Success was defined by key production and services metrics, including: member acquisition; deposit and loan growth; engagement through cross-selling and educating members on remote access; Net Promoter Score (NPS) and Mystery Shops. My role included hiring and onboarding managers and ensuring continued development through coaching and performance evaluation. I created and implemented a territory sales plan, managed a budget, set and achieved goals, and ensured information protection and regulatory compliance.I represented the division on cross-functional projects and participated in strategic planning and branch expansion. During my tenure, I consolidated 3 branches into 1 in a new location, closed an underperforming branch, opened a new branch, and relocated 3 branches from grocery stores to standalone locations. I also added 2 branches in King County as territories were realigned. I was active in my community, establishing and maintaining relationships with business and community partners, participating in events, promoting financial education, and serving as Vice President for the Pierce County Chapter of Credit Unions.By 2012, we had 62,670 members, average deposits totaling $374k, and average loan balances of $434k. This represents an increase of 168% in new members, 91% growth in deposit dollars and 116% growth in loan balances over 2008 numbers. In addition, we achieved a Net Promoter Score of 90.12% and earned the highest Mystery Shop Score in the network at 90.72%.
Regional Manager
I was responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring the overall performance of multiple branches while also serving as the branch manager for one of the locations in the region. My region consisted of 5 branches in Thurston and Kitsap counties. During my tenure as a Regional Manager, I closed an underperforming branch and hired and onboarded an entirely new leadership team.
Neighborhood Financial Center Manager
I was responsible for the growth and operations of the Olympia-Martin branch, an in-store location inside of Safeway. I was later asked to manage two branches and assumed responsibility for the Lacey branch, another in-store location nearby. I managed a team of 7 Member Consultants. Community involvement and Business Development were also core competencies of NFC Managers at that time. I was a member of two Chambers of Commerce and participated in the LEAD Thurston County program through the Thurston County Chamber.
Member Consultant
As a Member Consultant, my primary responsibility was to acquire new members, sell credit union products and services, and promote financial literacy and remote access. I worked with Community Affairs to create and manage a Financial Education calendar for Thurston County and served as the branch champion for Mortgage Products, Fiduciary Accounts, and Small Business. I was sworn in as a Loan Officer in 2005.
Distributor Education Manager
My role was developed to serve as a liaison between the manufacturer and the distributor for the ISO product line. I managed all aspects of training in a multi-state territory that started with Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. I recruited, selected, and trained a team of independent trainers (Design Team Members) to meet demand for on-site programs. Our primary client base was stylists and salon owners. I worked in collaboration with the distributor sales force to acquire business, going out on sales calls and scheduling training to ensure proper use of the product line. I managed client accounts as an advisor on product sales and facilitated training to earn new clients through demonstration of product performance. Working with the Regional Sales Manager, I developed and implemented promotions and contests to increase sales and excitement for the product line. I participated in the creation and execution of the strategy behind new product launches. I managed a calendar of events for the territory, including onsite training in salons and stores, large shows in major venues, and train the trainer events for my team and DTMs from other areas. By the end of my tenure, I was managing events in Alaska, Arizona, California, and Nevada in addition to my territory.
Salon Leader
I was responsible for the day to day operation of a Haircuttery salon and managed a staff of 17 stylists. My primary duties included: scheduling, training and development of staff. I was responsible for purchasing, merchandising, and managing inventory and promotional marketing. I managed payroll, banking, goal setting, and increasing revenue through services and retail sales growth.
Area Supervisor
I managed the operations of 8 retail stores for the Trade Secret branch of Regis. Trade Secret's primary business focus is on retail sales of professional beauty products and maintains a small salon in each location. My role included recruiting, hiring, onboarding and training staff for each location - including Stylists, Beauty Advisors and Managers. I set and achieved goals for sales growth for each store through action planning, coaching, and performance management. I was also responsible for merchandising and promotions, payroll, regulatory compliance, and resolution of employee and customer issues. During my tenure, I took the lead on the planning and implementation of a new site.
Stylist - Trainer - National Coach
My primary role was stylist, however, my passion during this time was training. In addition to providing services to clients and selling retail products, I represented various manufacturers in a training role. During my tenure with Haircuttery, I worked as an Advisor for Clairol, Redken, and KMS. I trained stylists from more than 20 Northeast locations in salons and in regional training centers. As a KMS Advisor, I pioneered and managed a program to develop new trainers, localize training efforts and recognize employees. My success as a trainer led to invitations to travel to other regions to share best practices and mentor other Advisors. Ultimately, I was invited to co-create the National Coach role and joined a national team with representation from other manufacturers. Our team was tasked with establishing cohesive, consistent standards in training through coaching and development across the organization, which included regions from Florida to Pennsylvania and west to Chicago.I hosted and facilitated train-the-trainer events, evaluated performance, facilitated goal setting, and developed sales and coaching programs. I also had the opportunity to participate in special projects, including: platform work at hair shows, training videos, and published photos in Modern Salon Magazine. I was recognized nationally by KMS as the Specialist of the Year and earned the Passion Award the following summer.
