As his role as a catering assistant Reece is responsible for the safe preparation of food and beverages in a popular café in Chesterfield. Reece is also responsible for carrying out basic food preparation. Reece is always at the front of house serving and communicating with customer. This can be families to coach trips. This has allowed Reece to gain excellent communication skills when dealing with members of the public.

Reece joined the seasonal staff team this summer as an outdoor activity facilitator. His role included teaching Climbing, Low Ropes, Assault Course, Team Building Tasks, Day Walks, Work on site including Catering and site maintenance. Reece was an extremely keen and enthusiastic worker and was always the first to volunteer his help. He clearly has a passion for the outdoors and facilitating sessions that the children and young people will enjoy and get a lot out of. Reece’s sessions had a good structure to them, he was clear and concise with his briefings whilst remaining friendly, supportive and reassuring. The sessions had a good pace to them, and he could mix it up where necessary to retain interest from the participants. Within the staff team Reece was supportive of his colleagues and always gave cheery banter. The Postcards that the young people filled in at the end of the NCS wave reflected the positive impact Reece’s work had on their residential experience. Reece has a bright future in the outdoors and has the skills and attitude to gain a place within a leadership team, I would urge him to get a larger range of experience and NGB qualifications to make himself even more employable.

For his time at the centre Reece shadowed our instructors. He worked at a very high standard and professional manor. The staff at the centre loved his company as he wasn’t afraid of going the extra measure and helping around the centre with general maintenance work. When on activities Reece was enthusiastic and had a natural energy around the children and they seemed to love his company. Reece instructed in walking, den building, river walks and education talks about the animals and habitats. He was a pleasure to have around the canter and we look forward to seeing him again soon.
