Rob currently oversees engineering services for Fehr & Peers. In this role, he ensures that engineering efforts are appropriately staffed and that engineering staff are provided the training necessary to successfully complete their work. Rob's passion is highlighted in a recent project for the City of Oakland to evaluate bus rapid transit through the city. The study objective was to develop a project that could be supported by the community and then conduct outreach to build support for the project so that it could be endorsed by the City Council. Seven public outreach meetings and several public hearings were conducted as well as individual stakeholder meetings. Technical work included conceptual engineering of the corridor to reflect the city’s values including a careful balance of auto, transit, pedestrian, and bicycle modes along with expanding the urban landscape; as well as micro-simulation. The project is now in preliminary engineering with Fehr & Peers continuing to support the city.
