Simon is a Principal at Arup's Los Angeles office who leads the Structural Engineering there. He has 25 years of experience at Arup as a Structural Engineer, Project Manager and Multi-Disciplinary design leader. His experience includes new building design, renovation of existing structures, seismic assessment, and retrofit of existing buildings. Among his most recent major projects where he led the structural design are: Delta Airlines Terminal 2 & 3 at LAX, the Airport Metro Connector at LAX, Google's Adaptive re-use of the historic Howard Hughes "Spruce Goose" hangar in Playa Vista, Loma Linda University Hospital, the underground "Expo" station on the Crenshaw light rail line, the LAX Central Plant project, and the Broad Contemporary Art Museum and Resnick Pavilion at LACMA.As a project director, project manager, lead structural engineer, and structural engineer of record, Simon has led multi-disciplinary teams on projects such as industrial facilities, laboratories, corporate headquarters, retail developments, museums, and bridges and lightweight canopy structures. Simon was an early proponent of sustainable design, was the first engineer in the City of Los Angeles to specify high-volume fly-ash concrete and was the structural engineer for the first LEED platinum project designed in Los Angeles.Specialties: Structural & Multi-disciplinary engineering.
