Advocate, educational trainer and student mentor for middle and high school journalism activities in Washington, D.C., with specialties in critical thinking, media literacy and multicultural inclusion. Serves as a liaison to develop partnerships and bridges between professional and scholastic media towards developing and improving opportunities in urban educational settings. Conducts summer media workshops and develops curriculum plans.

As a long-time lover of public radio, I assist the station with any initiatives and community outreach initiatives including, but not limited to, twice-annual fundraising campaigns, packing and shipping of member cards and gifts, and any related membership tasks.

Served as the curriculum developer, planner, troubleshooter, editor for National Assn. of Black Journalists' summer high school journalism program. Mentored and "did it all" for students, in their growth and preparedness as a writers, journalists, story storywriting. Was original team of four who submitted proposal and constructed the framework for the national program.

As board member, increased the presence and circulation of the student-run newspaper by taking it beyond traditional circulation areas; promoted the publication as a legitimate, alternative source to write, edit, produce beyond regular school setting; provided professional development sessions in critical thinking, story development and pitching and assisted in the planning and implementation the publication's annual fundraiser, Cartoons & Cocktails. In brief stint as board chairman, led boardmembers to development of a long-range strategic plan that focused on streamlining internal operations, broadening board involvement, finetuning fiscal and fund raising efforts, pushing towards a digital editions and increasing mentor-mentee relationships between board and staff.

Chapter director to DCJEA, JEA's lone urban-centered chapter of journalism teachers and media advisers. Restructured and developed the chapter with a dual intent to increase membership as well as improve the brand and status of scholastic media in Washington, D.C. schools. This was achieved by: Promoting the virtues of JEA membership and activism by area urban media instructors; supporting middle and high school media educators with unique professional development opportunities; advised, when requested or needed, teachers, staff and administrators on First Amendment rights of student media; creating relevant partnerships with professional media; and providing recognition for the District's top media students and teachers. Also served as a workshop instructor at area universities; and as a mentor, coach and curriculum developer for Washington Assn. of Black Journalists urban journalism workshops.
