I joined the restaurant a month into its formation and saw it grow into one of the busiest independent restaurant in Toronto’s downtown financial core. Worked the kitchen line creating meals for our business clientele. Other duties included food preparation, serving customers and closing down the restaurant. The lunch rush was extremely busy and created a high energy and challenging environment. The eventful nature of work taught me to think and act quickly, give orders on the fly, and to be accustomed to a hectic, demanding, and at times stressful environment while still enjoying my job.

Worked directly with the CEO of the TPSI on all matters pertaining to the organization. Daily duties included editing documents and reports, communications work, data entry, updating the NGO’s website. I have conducted policy research and analysis on governance models of parks, advertising in public spaces, and municipal government methods in relaying information to the public. As well I represented and spoke on behalf of the group at public meetings and consultations. Interning with the TPSI also gave me the opportunity to meet with City of Toronto Councilors to discuss public space governance in their ward.

Marketing intern for online start-up SongFreaks with a social media site and iPhone app for music fans. I Increased time spent on the website and daily views from 20 to over 350 with no financial support. Duties included contacting companies and agencies interested in advertising the app, connecting with users and fans through social media sites as well as writing original content for the SongFreaks music blog. Most rewarding was conducting interviews with musicians and bands from across the globe via Skype and turning these into a weekly interview feature on the SongFreaks blog.
