About Rene Talbot
I have over 15 years of technical field work experience in the forestry sector, supervising crews and implementing contracts in forest health surveys, silviculture, wildland firefighting and other regenerating stand evaluation work. I was involved in ground scoping tender offers and preparing bids for future work. I have extensive experience scheduling crews to achieve production targets and overseeing quality control programs. I am in the fourth year of my environmental engineering bachelor's degree at UNBC/UBC and part of the applied science co-op program. I am currently completing a second work term with Thurber Engineering Ltd. gaining experience in the construction industry and conducting vibration monitoring for blasting operations on a major linear infrastructure project in British Columbia. My functions also include data management and technical reporting. I have an interest in the mining/construction industry, water resource management and geotechnical work. I have previously worked as a field technician for the Canadian Wildlife Service and Environment Canada participating in various avian population studies including with waterfowls, Ferruginous hawks and Golden-winged warblers.Competencies: Excel, Python, R, QGIS, AutoCAD, HEC RAS, data collection and management, technical writing, crews supervision, work scoping and planning.
