As an educator, I passionately believe that all children can learn. Often there is a focus on the correct curriculum, the perfect environment and the abilities of students. I accept that the burden is on the teacher to inspire students and determine the way they learn best. My greatest strengths are my pedagogical knowledge, stubborn resourcefulness and good understanding of how to help students succeed. I am committed to improving teacher efficacy because it is pivotal to improving student achievement. I want to contribute to the investment in professional development that will improve teaching and learning at the school level. My resume speaks to twenty years committed to children from the elementary to college level. In the classroom, I was considered a Master Teacher. I became a National Board Certified Teacher and then began supporting others to get certified. After seven years in the classroom, I pursued a career doing professional development because I wanted to impact more students. During my years with Montgomery County Public Schools, I wrote curriculum and worked as an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins and George Washington University’s graduate programs. Having worked in five different schools (including the Bronx, NY) with a variety of diverse populations, I have collected and improved upon strategies that make me an excellent candidate in any educational environment. For the past 12 years as a school leader I have garnered a great deal of experience planning for school improvement, developing long-range plans for professional development, successfully implementing and supporting new curriculum, and designing and executing numerous trainings for parents, teachers and school leaders. I have also used tools to evaluate and refresh opportunities for teachers to learn and improve instruction.
