Sometimes a choice we make can change the trajectory of our career and our life. At least, that's what happened to me.I didn't plan on becoming an executive coach or entrepreneur. But that's exactly what happened as a result of working with a fabulous executive coach in the late 90's. This coach helped me to see the common thread of what I enjoyed most and did the best throughout my sales and marketing career. It was helping clients, colleagues, and employees see new possibilities and do things differently in order overcome challenges and step into new opportunities. This key insight stuck with me and in 2001 I chose to do what I do best. I opened a coaching practice that was successfully built around using Cylient's Untying the Knot approach. My focus: to help clients have more honest and productive conversations, take calculated risks, innovate together, and build coalitions across boundaries. As coaching-based leadership became their preferred leadership style, clients found they, and the people they led, could navigate change more quickly and easily. Now as a Certified Coaching in the Moment Digital Learning Moderator, I do what I love at the organizational level. I'm thrilled to partner with incredible, forward-thinking clients to address the increasing complexity of change and how it has completely re-wired what we need from our leaders.Rather than telling people what to do, we need leaders who can: *Address issues in real time *Inspire people to take risks *Build connections across boundaries *Create new ways of getting things done, together That's what a coaching culture looks like in action.
