When the CEO moved to the US, I was promoted to Chief of Staff while remaining Head of Legal during 2022. This required a deep understanding of the entire business and the capability to motivate the team to create and iterate upon systems and processes to become a global company. My experience expanded from a predominantly legal role to one of efficient execution of cross functional projects, and an opportunity to lead and develop a strong team. In 2023, I oversaw the Legal, People, Operations and Finance side of the businesses to provide relevant, impactful information and assessments/advice to the Global CEO to feed into his US and SA strategies. I also worked closely with the Global CEO to continue capital raising culminating in $500k on a convertible instrument bridge round.General tasks included investor/shareholder relations (board packs/reports, corporate governance; capital raising); corporate structuring; capital raising, employee matters (performance, disciplinary, development); contract drafting/negotiation (customers, global contractors & suppliers, internal); creation, set-up and optimisation of systems, and the implementer of cross-departmental C-Suite strategies (data security/compliance, OKRs and training).

As the first legal role at Mobiz, I was responsible to create and develop the legal function in the Enterprise MarTech B2B company (contract, HR, corporate, processes, operations) in South Africa, and later responsible for setting up the US operations - creating the US entity, tax/finance set up, IP transfer, inter-company contracts, and providing general and industry-specific regulatory advice to leadership for the development of the new SMB product in the US. In 2021, I assisted the CEO to raise over $4M for Mobiz's South African Series A by attending to the investor tracking, due diligence and governing documents.

As Head of Legal/Legal Manager working directly with the CFO in the finance and legal department at iXperience, my role consisted of providing the Leadership Team with legal and business guidance to assist the company to provide both an in-person credit-bearing study abroad program across four jurisdictions as well as a live digital course with a remote internship in 6 future-focused industries created for university students around the world. Further, the role required contract negotiation and drafting, risk management and implementation across all departments and engaging external counsel, as required.
