Renee Robinson combats structural inequities by leveraging her 25 years of experience as a nonprofit, legislative, and corporate leader.Renee returned to Capital One in July 2024 as the Chief of Staff for the Head of Customer Channels.In December 2020 Renee was named Executive Director for Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity. During her tenure, she raised $3.5 million+, including $700k in competitive government funding for a multi-house development, and quadrupled the critical repairs program. With a focus on serving underrepresented groups, those served include 32% women-led households, 79% BIPOC, and 31% disabled individuals. As a progressive strategist, Renee has worked as a policy researcher, voter-engagement specialist, and legislative assistant in the Virginia House of Delegates. She led work to remove restrictive covenants from Virginia land records, one of the first states to do so. 2020 VA HB 788 was signed into law in April 2020. Renee engaged 100+ stakeholder organizations to launch the Richmond Metro Housing Resource Line. She built support from elected officials and business leaders for a paid sick day standard in VA impacting 1.2 million Virginians. To inspire citizens to advocate, Renee presented "Engaging in the Virginia State Legislature" at VCU, Leadership Metro Richmond, and the University of Mary Washington Social Justice and Leadership Summit. Previously, Renee worked at Capital One for two decades. She was named chief of staff twice, for the president of Commercial Bank and the head of enterprise HR/CDIO. She led three bank integrations: Beech Street Capital for Commercial Bank, and North Fork and Hibernia for Installment Loans servicing. Renee's final role was in HR, leading people strategy for senior executives and DEIB for 50,000+ worldwide. Three of her initiatives still power company culture today – she transformed Business Resource Groups; designed an Inclusion Index, the first measure of inclusion at Capital One; and founded Human Resources Employment Readiness Training (HEART), helping underemployed gain skills to achieve living-wage employment.Renee is a member of the Leadership Metro Richmond Leadership class of 2019. She earned her graduate certificate in project management from the George Washington University School of Business and her bachelor's degree in psychology, cum laude, from Virginia Commonwealth University. As a living donor, Renee was a National Kidney Foundation logistics lead and continues to raise awareness about the benefits of this life-saving decision.
