I started mainly in requirements and testing support for major projects in the Distribution business area: receiving product into warehouses, inventory management, and planning/execution of shipments to all the the Home Hardware stores all over Canada. Now that Home Hardware is re-positioning itself as an integrated retailer, I have been a key part in adopting BPMN 2.0 and supporting agile development to speed up project delivery. Recent analysis efforts include projects for supplier compliance and introducing ship-to-home option for Home Hardware’s website.

IFDS operates Mutual Fund management systems for many financial institutions, so most projects featured those external Customers as a main source of requirements. Projects I worked on included FATCA reporting for foreign subsidies of a Canadian bank, identifying special product needs for a new Customer, and improvements in RESP product support. Gaining consensus across multiple external Customers added a new aspect to my short but productive stay with IFDS.

A contract at CIBC in Toronto, joining an in-flight project to create a new customer experience for acquiring products and services in CIBC branches. Focus was business analysis services, working with business stakeholders to deliver reviewed and approved requirements. Responsibilities have been:1) Workstream Lead for delivery of requirements for operational and analytical reports for a new real estate-secured personal line of credit.2) Coordination of foreground and background messaging across multiple topic streams - client interview, product offers, account origination3) Liaison to external stakeholders for requirements review and approval - Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering, Controls.

Primarily, I worked with the business (from VPs down to clerical levels) to define requirements, so technology could be used to deliver solutions. To accomplish this, I also initiated and lead projects, and played a subject matter expert role to other project members: managers, developers, testers, trainers, etc. The main project over time was the definition of requirements for a new Loan Application System, and selection of a package to implement the company's new CERES system.

Key responsibilities included:- Working in a cross-functional team to tailor Information Architecture and Object Oriented methodologies for use in determining business requirements for DHL Global Shared Services- Creating use case models to specify business requirements for DHL Global Customer Shared Services- Playing primary role in External Standards development with RosettaNet for B2B standards- Performing business requirements analysis and specification for new Shipment Tracking System

Key achievements included:- Planned and directed a systems project to address the Vanishing Premiums issue on a block of insurance policies acquired by Manulife- Developed long-term plans for eliminating redundant systems through conversions to existing Manulife systems- Initiated and directed a project to search for and acquire an automated data conversion and interface tool (ETI-EXTRACT)- On the first conversion project to use ETI-EXTRACT, defined Business Conversion Requirements and used ETI-EXTRACT to implement those requirements
