About Ben Gibbs

As a leader, your experience can be both fulfilling and frustrating, exciting and exhausting, desirable and distressing. People's behaviour can be unpredictable, confusing and frustrating, as well as inspiring, humbling and energising. I offer to support, challenge and guide you and your teams to find clarity in the complexity of your professional lives so you can lead more effectively, and make the difference you want in the world.Work in any context is complex, and organisational behaviour can be ... well, confusing! As a result, the challenges you face can sometimes seem impossible. There are too many moving parts, too many contradictory options, too much chaff. The very ground you're on can feel unstable. Your years of experience inadequate. All of this makes leadership difficult, but lead you must. So I will work with you to find a way. To find *your* way. To start from where you are and with what you have, and to build from there. Trained to look deep into the relational aspects of organisational life, I will help you and your teams to make sense of what's being experienced at work, and to identify the root causes of the challenges you face. To find out what's *really* going on. This often involves exploring how you and others relate to systems and processes and to one another, so we will delve beneath the surface as well as above it. We will think about what you and your staff are bringing of your selves to work too, considering how things like your past experiences, pre-conceptions and life stages all add colour and meaning to the whole canvas. And we will range up through your relations at work, your concept of leadership and where you go for support, all with the aim of identifying your strategy. By exploring all of this we will address more than just the obvious 'presenting' symptoms, and will identify opportunities for deeper and more sustainable change. I am an engaging, well-qualified, highly experienced and deeply caring partner for your professional development and organisational improvement. I am driven by a desire to help you do your work better. I hope to bring all that I have learned and all that I am to enable clarity in your leadership, and to know what to do when you don't know what to do. Please get in touch to find out more and to gain more clarity in your work: bgibbs@tavistockconsulting.co.uk

By helping them better understand their own drives and needs, I aim to improve their practice.Through my consultancy, I help identify what's really going on in the school as an organisation, looking at the interpersonal, psychological and cultural dynamics that may be driving successful or less than successful outcomes. By looking under the surface of school life, I explore what lies at the roots of organisational behaviour and support my clients to form solutions. I work hard to be an informed, flexible and objective partner, and aim to build capacity rather than be the expert. I work with a select range of wonderful partners with tools or services that further these aims. And through my emerging portfolio of professional development solutions, I provide spaces in which leadership can form. My clients have opportunities to reflect on their practice, engage with the very best in leadership theory and think with peers about how to land what they have learned back in their context. My aim is to bridge the gap between NPQ programmes and reality. Show less
