Having worked with Purdue Extension at the state level throughout my career, I began serving on the Hamilton County 4-H Council in 2004 and served as its President in 2008 and 2009. I then joined the Hamilton County Extension Board and am serving as its President in 2012 and 2013.

The Indiana Land Use Consortium serves as a catalyst for education and a forum for discussion to foster responsible land use decisions and practices in Indiana. I helped establish the group and served as Chairman for its first four years. Through its twelve statewide conferences and other projects, the Consortium has brought together hundreds of organizations, institutions, and agencies to seek solutions to land use issues.

I have been involved with the AgrIInstitute and its predecessor organizations since its founding in 1983. I was a member of its two-year leadership program in 1986-87 and subsequently served on its board of directors for many years. I served as Chairman of the Board in 2003-2004.

The Indiana Rural Development Council served as private-public partnership to help communities become great places to live, learn, work, and play. The group spearheaded the RISE2020: Rural Indiana Strategy for Excellence initiative from 2005 to 2008, during which the council was privatized.

Led a successful turnaround effort that led to record membership, new grant-funded projects, multi-state initiatives, record food operation sales, and industry leadership on several key issues.
