I am a 44 year-old, husband, father of two. My wife, Elizabeth, and I celebrated 23 of marital bliss this July. God has blessed us with two wonderful boys. Benjamin, 22, and Joseph, 20. I grew up in the small Northeast Texas town of Blossom. My paternal grandparents, who took me to church every time the doors were opened, raised me to love God and to serve him with my whole life. They taught me respect is key to any relationship and God loves all and expects us to love others as well. My two great loves in this world are God and my family. Everything that I am stems from these two things. On the non-theological side. I love to hike, read, and travel and I am a Green Bay Packers fan. I consider my leadership style to be generally participatory moderating from the center but I have some delagatory style tendencies. This means I like to lead from a place where all voices are heard and considered but I am unafraid to take leadership to resolve conflicts that may arise. I believe that every person I minister with has something to contribute and honoring that contribution is extremely important to my leadership style. From my extensive work with youth and children, I have learned to be very flexible. Organizing and leading all-volunteer teams requires a leader to have the ability to adapt to ever-changing conditions in personnel and attendance. This flexibility also extends to how I teach and preach. If my method of communication is not working, then I learn and adapt to ensure maximum participation. I believe my favorite part of my leadership style is my good humor. I take my calling to God very seriously but I have been known not to take myself to seriously. Working in a church setting, laughter and encouragement are my two most important leadership qualities. I am fully aware of the importance being a serious leader, however, seriousness and good humor can go hand-in-hand.
