My last two main chaplaincy roles ended prematurely due to lack of sustainable funding, as has my role as Community Food Co-ordinator in NELincs. I continue with several part-time/sessional chaplaincies - at e-factor, with Grimsby’s Enrolled Freemen, and emergency response chaplaincy at Humberside Airport.I am keen to explore a variety of community-based roles in the future, whether in the faith sector or not. The most important aspect in any role/work is that I do something whose purpose I believe in and see as important to help communities flourish.I am therefore delighted to have become a Director of Grounded in Grimsby CIC - which manages a recently built community garden built on an under-used car park in Grimsby’s East Marsh area. I’m equally delighted to be the co-chair of the recently formed Northern Lincolnshire Food Partnership - something I and a colleague worked hard to establish in order to promote and work for food sustainability in our area.I’m an enthusiast for chaplaincy, but am also happy to use my transferable skills in community based roles. I have 35+ years' experience of ministry in local church & chaplaincy contexts, as well as experience in training & in adult theological education. I have also done a fair amount of writing & radio broadcasting. My chaplaincy experience includes retail, business, sport, hospital, university, airport, armed forces, and civic chaplaincy. As well as enhancing wellbeing, chaplaincy can augment and contribute to an organisation's diversity agenda. Many skills learnt and practised as a chaplain in these varying sectors and contexts are transferable into other environments. Prior to becoming a church minister, I worked as a Laboratory Technician, so have a scientific as well as an arts-based background.Specialities:Personal: openness, confidentiality, independence, friendly, ability to make connections in theory and practice, sense of humourProfessional: wide pastoral & ministerial experience; pastoral care giver; support provider in times of change & stress; understander of how different kinds of organisations & businesses operate; listening skills; consultancy and advocacy skills; diversity awareness; media & social media experience; public speaking; writing; adult education experience, both face-to-face & distance learning.
