As a trainer at Mise en Place I have been instrumental in implementing the new training manuals from the Netherlands in Belgium. Through a new interactive training programme new employees have become more prepared to function in an industrial kitchen environment, significantly increasing their skill and resilience at their first working experience in comparison to the old training programme. Throughout my career as a trainer I have sharpened the skills I obtained in my Jobcoach trajectory (see below), increasing my public speaking and coaching techniques. I have progressed to become a trainer who is highly flexible, adapting two day programmes into single day programmes and training groups ranging from two to 22 trainees, as well as stress-resistant in challenging or chaotic situations. On top of that I have been active in recruiting and guiding training assistants, cultivating them to become full-fledged trainers through constructive feedback and active supervision.

Today, many companies are eager to cultivate a winning mindset among their employees, but not everybody is capable to ride across that finish line with their arms spread and a big fat grin on their face. It is unnecessary for every employee to become a winner. You also need a peloton—a team that stands behind an ideal. Only together you can climb that hill. As a Jobcoach I have been someone who connects people and who cultivates sustainable relationships. Together we need to shoulder the burden so individuals need to be at ease within the team. Team members need to stay motivated, they need to feel like their voice is heard. With this in place, an individual can be of permanent added value to the team.During my tenure I have learned the ins and outs of being a coach and a trainer through a specialised training trajectory provided by the company. I have been using the skills obtained in my trajectory to consistently provide my coworkers with feedback, while also taking care to follow them up and make sure that they experience personal growth in their career with Mise en Place. As a leading member of the company’s kitchen department I have learned to take responsibility for groups of coworkers, ranging from one to 25, providing leadership and cultivating personal talents and abilities. As a kitchen trainer I personally oversee the education of our employees, while also handling a large share of the job interviews, increasing the number of active kitchen workers by 50%.While working for Mise en Place I have become a team player who puts the benefit of the team before his own objectives. Encouraging personal growth and building sustainable relationships have been my main goals over the past few years and I would like to take this attitude with me in my future career. As a designer I am passionate about high quality design as motors for individual and collective wellbeing, and my career at Mise en Place informs and reinforces this passion for people.
