About Rahul Garg
Rahul Garg is a President at T3wares. He possess expertise in cfd, multiphase flow, energy, matlab, engineering and 7 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Rahul and I went to the same undergrad school in India. There had been numerous occasions when Rahul had explained subtleties of thermodynamics and heat transfer concepts to me. During our many meaningful academic discussions, his exceptional skills in developing computational codes and extreme finesse in understanding fundamental physics behind the problem had made me a better student of science. His professional approach and friendly mannerism are praise-worthy."

Business Owner
Research Engineer
• Member of the core development team for open source computational fluid dynamics software MFIX (www.mfix.netl.doe.gov). MFIX is an open source code developed at US Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) over the last two decades. MFIX is used by 2700 researchers spread across 70 countries working in academia, national labs, and industries. It is used to simulate applications such as gasification, clean-coal technologies, etc., that are critical to America’s energy future. • Principal developer of the Multiphase Particle in Cell (MPPIC) model in MFIX. This novel simulation method greatly accelerates the simulation time of gas-solids systems, and enables large scale simulations that are required to advance reliable and efficient clean-coal technologies.• Member of the expert team assembled at National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) to review Bechtel National Inc’s (BNI) computational fluid dynamics V&V plan for confirmation calculations of pulse jet mixing (PJM) vessels that are critical to keeping nuclear waste well mixed at the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) (http://www.hanfordvitplant.com/). The review team is responsible for reviewing BNI’s CFD V&V plan and provides recommendations. The waste at the Hanford site is a byproduct of national defense plutonium-production efforts during World War II and the Cold War era and resides in 177 aging underground tanks. Of these more than one-third have already leaked and are contaminating the subsurface and threatening the nearby Columbia River. The $12.2 billion WTP project is entrusted with cleaning up the Hanford site of this legacy nuclear waste.
Post Doctoral Research Fellow
o Created a 2-D CFD model mimicking an experimental CO2 ¬separation reactor set up at Korean Institute of Energy Research (KIER).o Analyzed computational results obtained by MFIX software to experimental results obtained at KIER.
Graduate Research Assistant
o Developed a methodology named PUReIBM to perform particle–resolved detailed numerical simulations (DNS) for gas–solid flows.o Proposed new models for momentum and heat and mass transfer interaction terms based on direct numerical simulations.o Developed a novel formulation to perform detailed simulations of heat and mass transfer in gas–solid systems.o Implemented discrete element method (DEM) in NETL’s open-source reactive multiphase flow computational fluid dynamics code MFIX. DEM model is being widely used by other researchers in academia and industry to simulate gas-solids flows.o Developed a numerically-convergent and accurate Lagrangian-Eulerian simulation methodology for computer simulations of multiphase flows.
